On Dec. 6, 2015 I boarded your ship Neuw Amsterdam, cabin 4040. At approximately 3 PM I went out to relax on my balcony and sat down on comfortable looking rattan chair. As I put my right foot up on ottoman I felt a *** on my leg and saw an immediate gush of blood emerge which was difficult to stop the bleeding. My traveling partner, my daughter, grabbed towels and quickly ushered me to the emergency medical center. Wound required many stitches. In Holland American magazine Europe Voyages (page 12) it states up to10% select journeys ashore if booked by March 15,2016.I tried to book shore excursions today and was told this discount was not part of my booking but the onboard credit is.This is false advertisement.I cannot understand the logic to cut off one perk. It seems like Holland American arbitrarily decides to change perks.I am a three star Mariner.I was told when I booked on January 8,2016 that this shore discount would apply. Read more

Because my travel companion, and I previously enjoyed three Holland cruises that far exceeded our expectations, we recently completed our fourth Holland cruise which was to be our dream trip to South America. This trip, however, was filled with disappointments. Dear Sir, I would like to carry to your attention that at the time of our stop on Half Moon Cay,after buffet BBQ,we have ,my husband and me,be towards the Bar Boat to return to us on the edge of the sea. At this place ,we were pricked by several mosquitos. With the return to the house,we test general tiredness and headaches and this every day. we had 6 weeks supply of medication when leaving Australia. 2.5 weeks into the cruise Christmas day, my told me our medication was all but gone, i said never but she was right it had been stolen, the only people who have access to our cabin is the cleaning stewards, but how could i prove it. On boxing morning before going ashore to see if any one had been in our medication draw I put a small of piece of seller tape on the draw and on the dressing table, if any one opens the draw it would strech the seller tap and break it, when we got back to... cruiseVC7P3M 7/12/15 to 5/1/16 this was ment to be a cruise of a life time our 50th wedding anervasary, first a very noisy cabin 3396 just below the galley entry all you hear from 6am to midnight clip,clop,clip,clop the waiters heavy shoes and the a tray of dirty dishes banged down and slid along the bench after 2 day i lost it, they moved us, but the horror didn't there cabin2702 when we left Australia we had 6 weeks of medication, on Christmas morning my wife said we don't have enough medication to get back home, we still had 3 weeks to go.... left my room for 45minutes and my ring cost at lest 1500.00 was missing. when I realized it and went back to room it was gone it didn't have legs and walk. The room guys were now cleaning the room , I said did you see my ring in a pannick. no no sorry . im sorry. It was very hot that day in GRAND CAYMON had to use soap to get my ring off, left it on the sink, when I came back it was gone. everybody be more careful.im sick ,. cant sleep over this. be careful. I am writing you in regards to an incident which has left me deeply dissatisfied with Holland America Lines (HAL) and their parent company Carnival Cruise Lines. For the past 30 years I have always received very good service and customer care HAL, Carnival Cruise Lines and the vacation providers and travel agents I have dealt with. My suitcase was broken by Holland American staff while on tour in Alaska two months ago. They gave me the documentation and told me I would be reimbursed for the new case I had to buy. They told me to Email the baggage handling dept. when I got home to NZ. I did this and sent Email copies of the receipts etc. They said they would reimburse my credit card within 6 weeks. Nothing happened after 6 weeks and so I sent another Email. No reply! I sent another ,still not reply. This is not good business. Geoff Follas New Zealand Read more

My wife, daughter and I decided to take our first cruise on Holland America. What a mistake! We were asked 90 days in advance by our travel agent to submit a "Gluten Free menu for our daughter and she would fax it over to the ship. My daughter did this right away and was looking forward to the gluten free muffins, pizza, brownies, pasta etc. The only problem was...there was absolutely no gluten-free food for my daughter to eat.
